On March 02nd, 2016, Fiji Gas departed the Natovi Wharf at 6.05am, for Levuka, in the company of Fiji Government DISMAC officials, who were enroute to distribute food rations and supplies to villages on Ovalau.
“We visited 14 villages and 3 evacuation centres that day. A total of 20 gas cylinders and 10 ring burners were set up amongst all 17 locations”, said Richard GWilliams, the Fiji Gas Technician involved in the distribution and set up of cooking stations.
Waitovu Village, Vuma Village, Toki Village, Vatukalo Village and Nanowo Village were 5 of the 17 locations where cooking stations were set up.
“We are amazed at the response from DISMAC and Government in the distribution of relief supplies to those affected by TCWinston and, like many companies that have donated, are humbled to be part of the journey in being able to provide cooking facilities to those communities”, said Hans Reiher, Fiji Gas CEO. He went on to say, “We are pleased to advise that our pledge to equip villages, especially those in the rural and maritime areas, is being executed in line with DISMAC’s programmes.”
